Cheeseburger Topped with Apple and Onion

This is a different take on a cheeseburger. The combination of the apple and onion slices with the cheeseburger provides a flavorful addition to this dish. The juiciness of the cheeseburger, along with the melted cheese, and flavors of the other ingredients delivers a succulent meal that is satisfying to the tastebuds. Try with your favorite cheese and buns, and enjoy with your favorite cheeseburger sides, such as fries or vegetables.

Remove the ground beef from the package, and form the beef into separate patties. One 16 oz package yielded 4 patties.

  • We used one 16 wt oz package of Spring Crossing Cattle Co. Grass-Fed Ground Beef (90% Lean/10% Fat. Natural Beef. No Additives or Preservatives. Minimally Processed. No Artificial Ingredients).

Place the ground beef patties into a large skillet. Drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil, add 1 dash of the peppercorn medley or pepper, and 1 dash of garlic salt onto one side of the patties.

  • We used Filippo Berio’s Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 16.9 fl oz bottle (USDA Organic).

Flip the patties over and repeat the amount of olive oil, pepper, and garlic salt.

  • We used McCormick’s Peppercorn Medley Grinder 0.85 wt oz bottle (Non GMO), which contains black peppercorns, coriander, pink peppercorns, white peppercorns, allspice, and green peppercorns.
  • We also used Lawry’s Garlic Salt 6 wt oz container (Coarse Ground with Parsley).

Cook each side on medium-low for approximately 7 minutes.

While the patties are cooking, slice two apples and one onion, and add the slices to a medium to large-sized saute pan. Heat on medium for 14 minutes. Stir occasionally, until the onions are translucent.

Toast the potato rolls or rolls of your choice. We used a toaster oven. If your buns are frozen, put 4 in the oven for 15 minutes at 200 degrees to soften them before toasting.

  • We used Martin’s Potato Sandwich Rolls (No High Fructose Corn Syrup. No Artificial Dyes. No Trans Fats. Non-GMO).

After the potato rolls are toasted smear one side of each roll with mustard and the other with mayonnaise.

  • We used Giant’s brand of Stone Ground Mustard 12 wt oz bottle (Gluten Free). We also used Giant’s brand of Real Mayonnaise made with cage free eggs 15 fl oz jar.

For the last 2 minutes of the patties cooking, add 1 slice of cheese to the top of each patty. To melt the cheese faster, cover the pan with a lid.

  • We used Sargento’s Sharp Cheddar Sliced Natural Cheese 8 wt oz package (No Added Growth Hormones. No Artificial Flavors. No Antibiotics).

Place the cheeseburgers onto the buns, and add the onion and apple slices on top of the cheeseburgers.
