Ingredients
During the holidays, it’s fun to think of different ways to use our favorite holiday treats, such as eggnog. This dish is a twist on traditional or classic french toast. The hints of orange provide a delicious flavor addition. It does not have many steps, and can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Enjoy with your favorite maple syrup, fruit, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top. Add a dash of nutmeg for additional flavor.
Directions
We followed the steps for the french toast from the carton of eggnog. Crack 3 large eggs into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- We used Giant’s brand of Fresh White Extra Large Eggs (USDA Grade A).
Add 1 tsp of orange zest.
Next, pour in 1 cup of eggnog and 1 tbsp of butter into the mixing bowl. We used room-temperature butter, but you may want to melt yours.
- For the eggnog, we used Horizon Organic Low Fat Eggnog (USDA Organic. Vitamin A. Ultra-Pasteurized. No GMOs. No Antibiotics or Growth Hormones) from the 1 quart container.
- For the butter, we used Giant’s brand of Sweet Cream Salted Butter (Gluten Free).
Whisk the ingredients in the mixing bowl together.
Add about 1 tbsp of butter to a heated skillet on medium to medium-low heat.
Dip the bread into the mixing bowl ingredients, to cover each side of the bread.
- We used Sara Lee Artesano Brioche Bakery Bread (Made with Real Butter, Sea Salt, and a Touch of Milk. No Artificial Colors or Flavors. No High Fructose Corn Syrup).
Cook until each side is a light-to-golden brown color.
Serve with maple syrup, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and a glass of cold eggnog. Enjoy!
